Internet regulation is rising in South Asia. Fuelled by digital adoption, the internet has become a battleground for upholding and contesting democratic norms. The challenges related to social media  have led to governments relying on laws and measures to regulate it. This panel discussion , moderated by Dr. Anuradha Rao, will cover social media rules being drafted and enacted across South Asia, the political and social conditions driving these regulatory efforts, and tease out the implications of these rules on stakeholders, given the difficulties in drafting rules that tackle the root problem without generating further harm.
